TSU’s Career Success Coach Program for Faculty to Support Students

What is TSU’s Career Success Coach?

A Career Success Coach at TSU is a college career advocate — often a staff member, faculty member, or trained peer — who supports students in navigating their academic and professional journey. Their role is to champion students’ career development and help them connect college experiences with career goals by way of the Career Pathways Center.

What Career Success Coaches Do

Their key responsibilities include:

Career Guidance — helping students explore career paths related to their major or interests, and offering support with goal setting and career decision-making.

Resource Connection — referring students to internships, job boards like Handshake, alumni networks, and mentorship programs, and connecting students to career services and skill-building opportunities.

Advocacy & Encouragement — encouraging students to engage in professional development such as career fairs and networking events, with a special focus on supporting underrepresented or first-generation college students who may need extra guidance.

Partnership with Career Services — collaborating with the Career Pathways Center to reinforce programming and one-on-one support, and serving as career champions within academic departments. uconnectlabs
