Internship Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Preschool Teaching Intern to join our growing team. This internship is designed for individuals beginning their journey in Montessori or early childhood education who are eager to gain hands-on classroom experience.
Interns will receive training, mentorship, and guidance from experienced Montessori educators, making this an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills and deepen understanding of the Montessori philosophy. Ideal candidates are caring, joyful, and enthusiastic about working with young children while building strong relationships with students, coworkers, and families.
Please note: This is an in-person internship, requiring on-site participation up to 5 days per week, with typical shifts of up to 6 hours depending on your availability and class schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead and associate teachers in preparing and maintaining the Montessori classroom environment
- Support the implementation of Montessori lessons and activities tailored to children’s developmental needs
- Observe and document children’s behavior and progress under staff guidance
- Help foster a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment
- Encourage independence and curiosity in children through guided interaction
- Assist with classroom organization, materials, snacks, and daily routines
- Collaborate with teaching staff to support a cohesive classroom experience
- Participate in training sessions, mentorship meetings, and professional development opportunities
- Support communication efforts with families when appropriate
Internship Requirements
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of coursework in Early Childhood Education, Montessori Education, or a related field (preferred but not required)
- Interest in Montessori philosophy and child development
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and receive feedback
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with young children
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- Some experience working with young children (volunteer, classroom, or childcare settings)
- Completion of 3–12 ECE units (completed or in progress)
- CPR/First Aid certification
Additional Requirements
- Current health/TB screening and required immunizations
- DOJ clearance and fingerprinting (can be completed upon acceptance)
Internship Details
- Schedule: Full-time or part-time options available
- Format: In-person
- Start Date: Rolling, with priority for Summer 2026 placements
- Compensation: Paid opportunity (DOE), school requirements, and internship structure
